For most people seeking help and advice about mental health, your GP should be your first port of call and they will be able to assess how best to help you and refer you on if necessary. You should not hesitate to contact your GP if you experience mental distress, depression or anxiety which lasts more than a couple of weeks and which you are finding difficult to cope with.
